What causes sleep anxiety?

Updated: Oct 4, 2019

Our mind is a powerful resource that can work in our favor or against us. It may function in an automatic mode, as when we act in previously determined ways influenced by our thought patterns and behaviors acquired during our lives, or it may consciously be maneuvered to our benefit. Having awareness of your mind's constructed design will allow you to open up to new possibilities of functioning.

When anxiety is the issue at stake, thoughts produced by our mind have an important role in determining the quality of our sleep. Simple therapeutic techniques may be implemented in our daily lives that contribute to destress and enhance restful sleep.

By evolving awareness to the present moment we shift our thoughts in a direction that gradually quiets the mind, allowing our body to perceive destress in a natural, and significant manner.

Therapist and client will collaboratively develop unique approaches in order to facilitate transformation in thought processes that will contribute to positive changes towards the relief of anxiety.

For now, try this: When you go to sleep tonight repeat to yourself, "Tonight my body will have plenty of rest, and I am going to wake up at 7:00 (for example) feeling rested and energized." See what happens, you might be surprised with the results!
